Welcome to

Cotton & Camellia

Art by Kathleen Bryan

My name is Kathleen Bryan, and I am an artist from Scottsboro, Alabama. I started Cotton and Camellia as an outlet to express the things that bring me life, bring me joy, and bring me comfort. I started by painting with acrylic paints and doing single images, but more recently have moved into creating collections of repeating patterns. I now use a combination of acrylic painting and Photoshop for my artwork. I grew up on a farm, and my Bachelor’s degree is in Animal Science, which has definitely influenced some of my earlier artwork. Today I am mostly inspired by nature, and it is expressed in the themes of my designs.

A little about my process

I begin each collection with a mood board depicting a desired theme and color palette.

(A note: This is an example mood board I have created with my own images. I often use images from Pinterest for my mood boards, therefore I want to be respectful of copyrights. I keep my mood boards for private use.)

Next I move on to hand painting with acrylics on canvas.

Afterwards I scan the paintings into digital format.

I then finish up by tying everything together in Adobe Photoshop.

Art licensing

I have been involved a bit in the world of art licensing the past few years. My work is available on websites such as Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Wayfair.com, BedBathandBeyond.com, and more. I have licensed several pieces of art with Manual Woodworkers and Weavers for their climaweave pillows, and I have licensed wall art with The Rustic Nester. I am open to further collaborations. Contact me to let me know how my art can work for you.
